Synthetic winch rope is very strong
The newest trend in the winch industry is that more wire ropes are replaced by synthetic winch ropes. Therefore the safety, ease of use and tensile strength will be improved. Winch rope is made of fibers developed by DSM and named SK-75 Dyneema ® super fiber. The breaking force of a wire rope 6×36 is two time slower, than the winch ropes made in the United Kingdom. Safety and convenience are the same for all winch ropes and even better than wire ropes.
In approximately 60% of the breaking load the wire rope reaches the point where the plastic starts to deform, beyond this point the wire will deform permanently. The steel cores are not repairable and possibly also brittle. When the rope is brittle you need to replace the rope immediately. An important feature of Dyneema ® winch ropes is that if you compare it with a wire rope, the winch ropes are having no yield point and when this synthetic get maximum load and brakes, there will be no damage in the environment. The energy in the rope is converted into heat and not in elasticity like in a wire rope. In many applications this is a crucial factor to work safely. The hook has a clear working load limit, that is also called the maximum workload. The end of the rope is finished with a robust inlay with eye hook. The winch rope is less than 50 grams per meter, floats on water and because of the high flexibility it will make working easy.
